I want to dislike Tom Cruise but I keep enjoying the films he’s in so ¯_(ツ)_/¯. This was good fun.

Amer, 2009 – ★★½
Yes, Giallo. Yes, visually interesting. Did not enjoy it.
Spirited Away, 2001 – ★★★★½
Beautifully drawn. I suppose it was about overcoming fear but all I cared about was seeing what amazing and wonderous thing would show up next.
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, 2014 – ★★★
I expected black, deadpan humor with a surreal twist and that’s what I got. The trouble was that I found it depressing and not as funny as I’d hoped. I may rewatch it another time to see if it works.
Captain Fantastic, 2016 – ★★★
Had its moments, but not enough of them to recommend seeing it.
Get Out, 2017 – ★★★★½
Get Out made me uncomfortable in so many ways. Loved it.
Ghost in the Shell, 2017 – ★★★
It was fine.
Logan, 2017 – ★★★★
I’m exhausted by comic franchise films but Logan was a surprising thing to watch. It didn’t feel like a superhero movie. It was simply a good movie.
John Wick: Chapter 2, 2017 – ★★★★
It’s good to see Keanu back. Great, escapist fun.
The Lure, 2015 – ★★★★★
The best horror-musical-comedy-mermaid movie you’ll see this year!
“The Lure” was nuts, in the best possible way. I loved it. Can I have more like this, please?
Kong: Skull Island, 2017 – ★★★
A fine diversion.
