I’ve been shooting quite a bit of color film recently. It’s fun, but I prefer black and white photographs to color. Plus, I can make darkroom prints from black and white negatives.

What is a computer? – BirchTree

Matt Birchler: What is a computer?:

You don’t take a picture on you’re phone and then say “I can’t wait to get home so I can download and edit this before I share it with my friends.”

Madness or not, that’s exactly what I do. I may not always do it that way, but until I no longer shoot using film and “real” digital cameras in addition to the iPhone, my computer is my iMac and is where I edit and share my photos.

Paul Ford:

Datasette is an app that you run from the command line. You just point it to a SQLite database and run datasette mydb.db. And what it does is set up a simple, secure, publicly-available read-only web application for exploring that data. That’s basically it. It takes database files and makes them really easy to explore on the Web

I agree completely with Paul’s take. Datasette feels like a simple idea that will end up being an important one.

This might be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

I wanted this in early 2007. Unfortunately, sometimes you get what you asked for.

I’ve been completely off Twitter for 14 days and I’m still able to learn about things that are interesting in the world. Shocking! :).
